There’s an old saying that goes, roughly, You can’t be grateful AND resentful at the same time.
The truth is, there’s just nothing more powerful in motivating change than practicing an attitude of gratitude every day.
Feeling like you’re not making any progress? Stop and think about what you’ve done so far, and express gratitude for it.
Tired of seeing “everybody else” succeed when you’re struggling? Stop and think about what you’ve achieved so far, and express gratitude for it.
Worried that you won’t get something you want? Stop and think about what you have, and express gratitude for it.
It works every time.
You don’t even have to wait till you feel bad about something. Set aside time each day to say “thank you” – to whomever you chose. It could be a person, your idea of God, the universe, in your gratitude journal… it doesn’t really matter.
“In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships,” Harvard Medical School wrote.
You woke up. Be thankful.
You’re in a home. Be thankful.
You have water to drink. Be thankful.
Gratitude unlocks progress.
