Summer is such a great time for inspiration. You don’t have to look far to find motivation everywhere.

The sun makes you feel good… the vibe is relaxed… and we’re more encouraged to exercise and eat differently because we typically have access to more fresh fruit and veggies.

We have our eyes opened by travel. We re-connect with distant family and friends. We relax into the longer days and evenings.

Don’t you wish you could bottle the motivation for the rest of the year?

Well, you can, with the right mindset and a plan.

  1. Keep the bright idea. If it works in summer, it should work the rest of the time. For instance, stay positive in your view and in your self-talk. Keep up your meditation and gratitude practices. Reward yourself along the way to achieving big goals.
  2. Review your progress. At least once a season, sit down with your journal and your plans and compare where you wanted to be with where you are. Then make any adjustments needed for the coming months.
  3. Stay healthy. A beach vacation can motivate some people, but there are endless reasons to exercise and eat well. No. 1 – your health! You deserve strength and vitality now and in the future. And when the days get shorter and cooler, you can think back on summer fun to power you through a workout.
  4. Find fresh positive examples. Every season, look for at least one new mentor or person to emulate in some way. Maybe in the fall, you recall a former teacher who inspired you. In the winter, you find a charitable organization that needs volunteers, and so on.

The four seasons of the year give you a map to plan ahead, check progress, and anticipate what’s coming. You have all your life experience to help you repackage that summer motivation into year-long inspiration.

Remember – it’s always sunny somewhere!
