I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard this story.
A new nutrition/Pilates client is getting ready to start training with us here at To the Core Pilates.
They’re nervous but excited to see some results.
It’s maybe Thursday, and they’re getting started on Monday. We do their initial consultation, congratulate them on their commitment, high five them, and send them on their way until Monday.
Monday they show up bloated with low energy and 3 pounds heavier.
Why, you ask?
Because they literally binged on all of their favourite and soon-to-be “forbidden” foods.
I’ve seen people create huge setbacks for themselves in the name of not being able to have what they love ever again.
And honestly, if you approach any workout or nutrition plan with that mentality, you will fail. It’s that simple.
It’s a harsh truth, but it needs to be told.
No food will ever be off limits. You live in an abundant society where food isn’t scarce, and anything you want can be yours at any time.
There is no all or none in health and fitness.
It can be as simple as smaller portions, decreased frequency of consumption, or preparing healthier alternatives to your favourite foods.
But there is never a reason to believe that you’re going to have to say goodbye to pizza and ice cream forever.
So, have you ever approached a fitness program with this mentality of “never again?”
